Refresh Roundup: week of July 1st, 2013



Your smartphone and / or tablet is just begging for an update. From time to time, these mobile devices are blessed with maintenance refreshes, bug fixes, custom ROMs and anything in between, and so many of them are floating around that it's easy for a sizable chunk to get lost in the mix. To make sure they don't escape without notice, we've gathered every possible update, hack, and other miscellaneous tomfoolery we could find during the last week and crammed them into one convenient roundup. Official Android updates



  • HTC One: An update to Android 4.2.2 is now rolling out to handsets in Taiwan and throughout parts of Europe. The folks at Android Central have compiled a video walkthrough of the new software, which now makes it possible to map the virtual settings button to the home button. Also unique to this update, Instagram is now integrated into BlinkFeed. [Android Central 1, 2, 3]

  • Kyocera Torque: Sprint is now pushing out an update to Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), which also adds an option for international calling. [Thanks, Mike] [Sprint]

  • Samsung Galaxy S III: Android 4.1.2 is now available as an update from C Spire, which includes Samsung's Premium Suite set of enhancements such as multi-window mode. [Android Central]

  • LG Optimus L5: Jelly Bean is now available for this entry-level handset for Bell Mobility, which comes as an OTA update to Android 4.1.2. [Mobile Syrup]

  • BlackBerry Q10: An update to BlackBerry 10.1.0.2030 is now available from AT&T, which is a maintenance release. [CrackBerry]

  • Nokia Asha Touch: Enhanced Mail for Exchange support and a dedicated YouTube launcher are now available for the Nokia Asha 308, Asha 310 and Asha 311. Separately, WhatsApp is now available for the Asha 305 and Asha 306. [Nokia Conversations]
